The 2014 EU-Taiwan Seminar on Patent System was co-held on April 14, 2014 in Taipei by the European Economic and Trade Office (EETO), the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT) and the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO). Focusing on the recent development of the patent systems of EU and Taiwan, the sessions of the seminar discussed the legal framework of patent law and the practices on patent litigation in such jurisdictions. The guest speakers include Professor Dr. Dres. h.c. Joseph Straus (Professor of Law of University of South Africa and University of Munich, and Emeritus Scientific Member of the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law), Dr. Eberhard Becker and Dr. Tomas Kurig (German IP Counselors), Mr. Ching-Chieh Lin (Director of Legal Affairs Office, TIPO), Ms. Grace Lei (General Counsel of HTC Corporation), and Ms. Candy Chen (Managing Partner and Patent Attorney of Tsai Lee & Chen).
Ms. Candy Chen was also honorably invited as the commentator with other speakers in the Round Table Discussion for the experience sharing regarding patent prosecution and litigation, as well as the professional practice in Taiwan and EU with all the attendants.
