IP Cooperation between Taiwan and the UK
The Taipei Representative Office (TRO) in the U.K. and the British Trade and Cultural Office (BTCO) in Taiwan completed the signature of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Cooperation in Intellectual Property Rights in September of 2013. Under the MOU, TIPO and the British IPO have agreed to exchange views on global intellectual property issues such as Internet piracy and patent law harmonization, as well as issues discussed at WIPO, WTO and other international forums. The two sides also agreed to expand the scope of mutual cooperation by conducting joint projects.
It is expected that the MOU will further cooperation between both IP Offices, and hopefully will move toward a patent prosecution highway agreement between TIPO and the British Patent Office.
