Patience on TIPO's Backlog of Patent and Trademark Applications

Because of the large backlog of patent and trademark applications in the Taiwan Intellectual Property Office (TIPO), it is not uncommon for 14 to 24 months to elapse between the filing of the application and receipt of a first Office Action. Foreign applicants have to be patient as examination acceleration under 37 C.F.R.§1.102 of the U.S. practice is not available in this country.
