TIPS® Taiwan Intellectual Property Special New "Copyright Act" Bill to Accommodate the Internet and Digital Era
Current Copyright Act was revised and enacted on January 21, 1998 with the goal to comply with the provisions of TRIPS which was adopted by WTO. However, the current Copyright Act fails to accommodate the copyright issues derived from the development of the internet and the digital technology products. In order to promote the progress of e-commerce, the Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Economic Affairs (“IPO”) announced in August the revised Copyright Act Bill, including 4 new articles and the amendments on 16 articles.
