The lists of patent recipients do not differ much from those of the calendar year 2003. The top domestic patent recipients are mostly data, semiconductor and communication related corporations, which amount to about 70% of all patent grants and reflect the industry trends in Taiwan. However, optoelectronic industry appears to outstand from the remaining industries and expects to become a major player in upcoming years. As for the foreign organization lists, Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki Kaisha and Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V. hold the titles of the foreign organizations receiving and filing most Taiwan patents, respectively in the year of 2004, and Japanese corporations continue to occupy most of the top ranking positions. |
