Chinese IP Strategy on the Way

Commissioner Tian of the State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) has recently announced in the “China High-level Forum on Intellectual Property Rights Protection 2007” that the National IP Strategy will be ready to be promulgated and implemented within this year.

Since the beginning of the formulation of the Strategy in January 2005, the SIPO has completed 20 special reports and drafted the outline for the Strategy. The Strategy plans to include legislations, judicial and administrative protection strategies with regard to IPR. It is believed that together with the China’s Action Plan on IPR Protection released in April 2007, the National IP Strategy will contribute to promote innovation and IPR protection in China.
