Three New IPR Tribunals Established in Beijing
Three lower courts of Beijing, including Dongcheng, Xicheng, and Fengtai district courts have established intellectual property rights tribunals, and start to take IPR civil disputes. There are now five lower courts with IPR tribunals, forming a new court structure of “three instance courts and eight IPR tribunals.” IPR tribunals are established in the aforesaid districts because they are located in high-tech, cultural innovation or service-industry intensive areas, and the number of IPR disputes is relatively large, according to the Vice President of the Beijing High People’s Court. Apart from those related to patents, new varieties of plants and layout of design of integrated circuit, IPR tribunals of lower courts in Beijing have the jurisdiction over all IPR civil disputes.
