New Trademark Official Fees To Be Launched In February 2011
The official fees for trademark applications have been revised, and the new regulation is to be launched in February 2011. Major amendments have increased the official fees for filing a trademark application designating on goods that exceed 20 items, or on retailing services in Class 35 that exceed 5 items:

1. Filing a trademark application in Classes 1 to 34

2. Filing a trademark application in Classes 35 to 45

*Goods below 20 items:
NT 3000 per Class;
**Goods above 21, but less than 60 items:
NT 5000 per Class
***Goods exceeding 61 items:
NT 9000 per Class.

NT 3000 per Class.

Revised Fee
|
Goods below 20 items:
NT 3000 per Class
Each additional item of goods:
NT 200 per item
|
NT 3000 per Class.
Note: specific retailing services in Class 35 will incur NT 500 for each additional listing that exceeds 5 items.

According to the TIPO’s statistics, 99.3% of trademark applications were designated on less than 20 items of goods in one Class, ranging from Class 1 to Class 34.
The revised rule additionally allows the applicant to file a refund request for his/her voluntary withdrawals of trademark renewals made prior to the Notice Approval for Renewal.
